The Römerturm History
| 1885 | The company Poensgen & Heyer was founded by Carl-Eduard Poensgen and Wilhelm Heyer in Cologne. The basic philosophy at this time was the love of fine paper and how it could best be promoted as a cultural asset. The first collection of innovative papers was brought out in 1886. |
| 1886 | Due to expansion, the company moved to Zeughaustrasse opposite Roemerturm, the name which very soon thereafter, not just because of the importance of the warehousing, became the trademark of the company. |
| 1886 | The Hamburg branch was opened. |
| 1890 | Opening of the Berlin branch and the Export Department in Cologne. |
| 1892 | Opening of a branch in Munich and the Export Department in Hamburg |
| 1899 | Opening of the Leipzig branch |
| 1900 | Opening of the branch in Frankfurt am Main |
| 1905 | Founding of the workers holiday home in St Peter Ording |
| 1910 | 25th Anniversary Year – Silver Jubilee |
| 1917 | Acquisition of the paper mill in Lennemuehle |
| 1919 | Founding of the workers holiday home in Rottach-Egern |
| 1932 | Lennemuehle paper mill destroyed by a large fire |
| 1935 | 50th Anniversary Year – Golden Jubilee |
| 1945 | Destruction of the Headquarters in Cologne |
| 1946 | Founding of the Braunschweig branch |
| 1948 | Re-opening of the Headquarters in Cologne |
| 1957 | Founding of the Bielefeld branch |
| 1960 | Opening of the conversion facility in Lendersdorf |
| 1967 | Installation of the first IT-System, re-location of the Headquarters to Frechen |
| 1968 | Opening of the Stuttgart branch |
| 1984 | Opening of the Bremen branch |
| 1985 | 100th Anniversary Year |
| 1988 | Inauguration of the multi-stack warehouse in Lendersdorf |
| 1989 | The Braunschweig branch re-locates to Hannover |
| 1990 | Re-opening of the Leipzig branch |
| 1991 | Introduction of the Layout Collection |
| 1993 | Increase in the central warehouse capacity at Frechen; introduction of the new Print Collection |
| 1997 | Switch-over to a digital business system enabling faster response times to orders |
| 2000 | Roemerturm expands even more and opens the largest fine paper warehouse in Europe |
| 2001 | Extensive modernisation of the Headquarters in Cologne and the Lendersdorf facility. Meanwhile Roemerturm has at its disposal the most modern logistics set up in the market |
| 2004 | Roemerturm and Schneidersoehne set up a joint logistics venture. Schneidersoehne become minority shareholder |
| 2006 | Dieter Abel takes over as Managing Director |
